This month, we are supporting the 100th anniversary of the first ever home run that Babe Ruth ever hit. Babe Ruth was one of the greatest players to play for the New York Yankees. His nickname when he was on the Yankees was the Great Bambino, and he also had a lot of other nicknames, such as Sultan of Swat, the Big Bam, and more. Babe Ruth’s batting average for the Yankees was 0.349, which is considered really good. He actually hit his first home run in the Major League when he was only 20 years old. When Babe Ruth was playing for the Boston Red Sox for some time, he pitched for them, and he most famously pitched against Jack Warhop, who was a batter for the Yankees. His opponent’s nickname was “Crab” and he was nicknamed that because his pitches had an unorthodox submarine pitch delivery. Right now, all of Babe Ruth’s equipment are being sold in an auction, including his cleats, also known as spikes back then, and his baseball bat is also being sold at auction.
