Although all of us would love to go trick or treating with our friends, unfortunately, some of us are deemed “too old”. However, just because you can’t go trick or treating it doesn’t mean you can’t be a part of the Halloween fun! This article will review five things you can do on Halloween other than trick or treating.
Watch movies! who doesn’t love a good scary movie? If going out on Halloween isn’t your thing then call a few friends (or stay alone if that is what you prefer) and watch some horror movies. This is perfect for Halloween considering it is the spookiest night of the year. There are tons of amazing horror movies like Scream, The Exorcist, Paranormal Activity, and the Scary Movie franchise if you like a good laugh. If horror movies aren’t your thing there are also many kid friendly Halloween movies like Hocus Pocus, Halloween Town, Scooby Doo, and The Corpse Bride just to name a few.
To satisfy the foodie in all of us, the next thing you could do is bake! Baking is fun alone and with friends. There are all kinds of Halloween themed treats you could make like spooky looking cookies (I personally like the Pillsbury pre-made ones the best), cute cupcakes, and pretty much anything else you bake can be made Halloween themed. Your creativity is your only setback!
If you love going out you could go to a Halloween party! No matter where you live there is bound to be a Halloween party near you.if it’s a costume party don’t worry if you weren’t invited, just wear a mask! Not really, please be safe. But besides the point… Halloween parties are a blast! You get to hang out with friends, eat yummy food, and just enjoy Halloween in true extrovert style. If you don’t want to go to someone else's party you could throw your own! All you need is a place to throw it, food and drinks, music, and all of your friends! You could even use the Halloween themed treats you baked earlier. Just remember to be safe and responsible wherever you chose to go.
If you don’t want to deal with the hassle of throwing a party you could gather a few of your friends and go out to dinner. On Halloween there are many places where you could get cheaper food or even free food! At Chipotle you can get a $3 burrito, at Krispy Kreme you can get a free donut if you dress up, and at Pizza Hut you can get 25% off of a pizza! So, as you can see there are lots of places to get delicious food for cheap and even for free on Halloween!
And lastly, my personal favorite option… you can go to a haunted house! There are so many awesome haunted houses in our area like Hotel of Horror, The Valley of Haunted Fear and The Original Haunted Hayride, and Sleepy Hollow. But the best place to go by far is Dorney Park. Every Halloween season Dorney Park redecorates its entire park making it Halloween themed. During the day the park is pretty much normal but at night people in scary costumes come out and wander the park. Also, at night there are an array of haunted houses that open that you can go through. There are the same every year so don’t worry if you don’t get to one this time around. There are also a lot of new ones every year to try out! Trust me, these haunted houses are terrifying!
As you can see, you don’t have to go trick or treating to get the most out of your Halloween! There are so many other super fun options to keep you entertained.Even if you are considered “too old” for the biggest Halloween tradition, this Halloween should not be wasted!
