A Guide to Black Friday 2020

Updated: Dec 4, 2020

Many people are excited to go out the day after Thanksgiving and catch some Black Friday sales, but this day could look much different compared to what people are used to. Most people can agree that there is nothing normal about this year. In previous years, people would wake up extremely early to catch doorbuster deals to save some money. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, all large companies and retail stores are extending their deals online to avoid large crowds. It is suggested that people should not take unnecessary shopping trips to stay safe. If you do choose to go out in public to Black Friday shop, make sure you wear a mask, and maintain a 6-feet distance from anyone you do not know.

This year’s Black Friday is on November 27, the day after Thanksgiving. While there will be incredible deals online, it may be difficult to find items that are not sold out. The good news is, if an item that you have been waiting to buy does sell out, the chances that another store has a similar deal, are high. Even though Black Friday is not until the 27th, if you plan to get good sales you should shop even earlier. Some popular deals also restock, so keep refreshing your web browser. If you have a certain store or item that you know you want to go to or buy, go to their website and check out their Black Friday deals before the 27th. It is a good idea to make a list of what you are looking for to make this overwhelming day a little easier. Trying to figure out if a deal is actually good may be confusing. This can easily be done by comparing the price of the item to other stores. It is important to compare before checking out to make sure you are saving as much money as possible.

If you are looking to buy expensive items such as electronics, you can also shop on Monday, November 30. This day is called Cyber Monday, which is similar to Black Friday, but it is all online. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it will most likely look the same as Black Friday. Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales are usually the best discounts of the year. If you are looking to save money while shopping for yourself or others, be sure to get online, shop, and most importantly, stay safe.
