Couple Plans Mass Murder at Bar

Hailey Diehl, Sophomore

On Thursday, Elizabeth Lecron and Vincent Armstrong were indicted in federal court for conspiring to use explosives and firearms to launch a massacre to kill and injure others. The couple was infatuated with murder, and it got to the point they were planning to attack a local bar.

Elizabeth seems to have started her love for murderers years ago and was very open about it on Tumblr. She constantly posted about how she found them attractive, and she would even refer to specific murderers, such as Roof. In July, Elizabeth wrote Roof a letter asking him for book recommendations. He replied, and in his response, he asked her to send him books about the civil uprisings and Nazis. In October, she ended up sending him a book about a Belgian person who fought for the Nazis, along with a message that included “I've been thinking about you a lot and decided to send you books every 2 weeks.”

After the police got an anonymous tip saying the couple "had recently expressed a desire to conduct a violent attack and was in possession of multiple firearms and the beginning elements of a pipe bomb," they looked further into it. Then on Aug. 18, a federal judge authorized a search warrant for the home the couple had. When Elizabeth and Vincent got their apartment searched, the law enforcement found an AK-47, shotgun, multiple handguns, ammunition, end caps, and a journal containing their plans of attack.

At the same time, a Joint Terrorism Task Force source was talking to Lecron while pretending to be a fan of mass murders. When he met up with the couple, they told him that they were planning to commit “an upscale mass murder.” Lecron said that her master plan was to commit an attack at a second-floor bar in Toledo.

If the couple is convicted, they will face life in prison.
