Creed 2 starring Sylvester Stallone (or more commonly known as “Rocky Balboa”) was released on November 21st, 2018. I fortunately was able to see it early on Tuesday the 20th. As a refresher, Creed 2 is the most recent installment in the eight-movie series of “Rocky”. This newest movie continues the legacy of the life of Rocky Balboa. The series details his struggles to pursue his love for boxing long after his glory days in fighting are over. In Creed 2, the Heavyweight Champion of the World Adonis Creed agrees to fight Viktor Drago, the son of the man who killed his father, Apollo Creed.
Personally, I was so impressed with the training clips that were included in the movie. it was evident that the actors playing these roles truly got a workout and had to be in very impressive physical shape. Another thing that really stuck out to me about Creed 2 was the soundtrack. Of course, it included the famous Rocky Balboa theme song. However, it also featured high-energy new R&B rap songs that really pumped up the audience and grabbed everyone’s attention. As a whole, there was not one dull moment throughout this movie and it had my attention the whole time. Adonis Creed’s lover, Bianca, was another powerful aspect to the movie. She showed such strength and perseverance as she stood by Creed on his journey to beat Drago. The movie was filled with love, drama, comedy, action and at some points even sadness, bringing something to the table for every viewer. I would definitely suggest making the trek to the movies to watch Creed 2, however I suggest that you see the first Creed before seeing Creed 2, as it will make the movie so much more impactful through knowing the backstory.
