According to CBS News, Cyntoia Brown was convicted of 1st-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison years ago. Brown was charged with shooting a 43-year-old man named Johnny Allen when she was 16. The reason she killed Allen was that she was a sex-trafficking victim and she feared her life saying that Allen was her “pimp”. According to police, after shooting Allen, Brown then continued to rob him.
With new-found celebrity support from many including Kim Kardashian, the court decided to look back into the case and are considering letting her out on parole because her crime was out of self-defense. Many people are praying that she is let out and have reached out in support for her freedom. It will be interesting to see in the coming months if Brown is, in fact, let out of prison.
