The biggest movie and TV stars in Hollywood all came together in Beverly Hills for the 77th annual Golden Globe award show last night. This year's host for the prestigious night was Ricky Gervais. Gervais made lots of jokes about Hollywood's most famous actors and actresses, which made the night enjoyable and light-hearted. The night was filled with upset losses and underdog winners. People watch the award show to see what movies and television show triumphs the ballots. Critics say the Golden Globes are a warmup for the Oscars, which will be hosted on February 9th, 2020. For best drama television series, Succession took the award beating out shows Big Little Lies, The Crown, Killing Eve, and the The Morning Show. For the movie catalog, Best Motion Picture Musical/Comedy went to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, starring Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio. The Joker was beat out by 1917 for the Best Motion Picture Drama. Best Original Score and Best Actor in a Motion Picture went to the Joker movie and main star Joaquin Phoenix. The pleasurable night was filled with great wins and defeats, only to lead up to the Oscars.
