The internet has been going wild after President Trump sent an airstrike on the Baghdad Airport in Iran, killing the head of Iran's elite military force, Qassem Soleimani. Standing as one of the most powerful leaders in the Islamic Republic, Soleimani’s death has caused mass uproar in both Iran and Iraq. Thousands are mourning, and the Iranian government and people are seeking revenge.
Both the United States and Iran will not follow the 2015 nuclear deal that restricted “sensitive nuclear activity” in the Islamic Republic and many world powers. This was an attempt to prevent tensions between countries from escalating, especially with nuclear war on the line. However, now that Iran will no longer follow many of these restrictions, leaders in both countries are rearing towards a World War.
Many U.S. citizens have been resorting to humor to cope with the threat of World War Three looming over their heads. Popular social media apps like Tiktok, Twitter, and Instagram have been overflowing with jokes and posts about the threat of World War Three and the potential draft that a world war would bring with it.
