The River Valley Winter Fair is hosted at the River Valley Waldorf School. The fair consisted of activities, live music, food, and an artisan market. The school was decorated with snowflakes, school projects, and other festive decorations. In the center of the school, there was King Winter to tell stories to young children. The school’s choir sang many songs, and there was also a parent choir that sang as well. There were also select groups that sang throughout the afternoon. Activities were as follows: candle rolling, ornament making, gingerbread tea party, artisan market, and a secret garden. The secret garden was a place for young children to pick out gifts for their family and friends. Candle rolling consisted of rolling colored beeswax around a wick. The ornament making was derived from natural resources found in the woods surrounding the school every year. The gingerbread party was where you could drink tea and eat ginger bread while talking to your friends. The artisan market had many goods that were made by people. There were also henna tattoos that you could get. The proceeds of the event go towards the school, which is what the business administrator Reve Kelly said. They get around 200-300 visitors every fair and the event has been going on for 25 years. The fair was a fun place for families to celebrate the holiday season.
