Sitter Gives Back Dead Baby

Brynn Keyser, Freshman

Marissa Tietsort was babysitting last October for a mother. Tietsort returned the baby and everything was going well until the mother took her baby’s winter suit and hat off. The baby wasn't breathing.

Marissa Tietsort was a previous child abuser and was not allowed to be with a child alone. Yet, this mother let her watch her baby. When Tiesort was babysitting, she realized that the child had died around 6:30 PM. According to Washington Post, she admitted to putting the baby on the floor, bundling the child in winter clothes and blankets, and strapped it in its car seat. She delivered it back to the mother with a hat over its eyes and claimed that it was sleeping. The mother fell for it and they parted ways. Later that day, an officer rushed to a laundromat to see a mother performing CPR on her baby.

Last Friday, Tietsort was charged with first-degree intentional homicide. She appeared in court last week, and witnessed the family of the dead child wearing T-shirts of the child’s face out of anger, remembrance, and mourning. The baby had three blunt force injuries to its head and its tailbone had been broken off.

“I’m not a threat to society or a monster. I’m a great mom and I love everybody.” says Marissa.

She is currently being held on a $500,000 bond. Her next court date is January 18th.
