Spring Fashion Trends 2021

Riley Mitchell, Sophomore

Fashion trends are constantly changing and if you want to be comfortable and confident while you strut your stuff this spring and summer, know how to do it by staying in the loop. Fashion is about being comfortable and looking good, and small accessories, a jacket, or fun shoes can really show that you know what you’re doing.

To create a more put together, but still relaxed, look, try styling an oversized shoulder pad boyfriend jacket. This item cinches the waist and elongates the legs and you can pair this outwear with straight leg trousers or leather shorts for a modern look.

Wearing pastel tones is a recurring trend that comes in a variety of styles and articles of clothing and the possibilities are endless. The colors complement a wide variety of skin tones, and create a real statement piece when creating a monochrome outfit. Pairing a soft pastel with another bold color can make your outfit really stand out.

Nothing brings an outfit together quite like the hair! Accessories are everything when putting together a quality outfit. Headscarves have really been standing out this year and are expected to be very popular. There are so many ways to style them, such as braided in the hair, tied around the back or front, or even used as a belt or bracelet. This 50s and 60s inspired trend is simple and brings together a look without overdoing it.

In the past year, outfits have not been the same as facemasks can ruin a look completely because you are adding an accessory without taking it into account. However, when you think about this extra accessory, an outfit can be made even better. Black face masks have been standing out because of their simplicity. The neutral color doesn’t add another dimension and keeps a look simple and clean. Black facemasks have an elegant look that protect you at the same time. Aim for a silky material that adds class but is easier to breathe in.

When the temperature starts to drop in the evening or a cool spring morning, be bold with a folk inspired coat. They can be super intricate or simple and they can pull together a monochrome look well by combining colors or being a statement piece in a basic outfit. Play around with length and style or find what fits you the most! Have fun with it and create a jaw dropping look.

Pop of colors have been a fashion staple for a long time, and this season, blue is in! Incorporate a pop of blue into a simple outfit. Gray and blue are great together and complement each other well. A blue hat, bag, or pair of shoes make a look put together and fun. Layering tops and showing a peek of blue is a super creative way to stand out. There is an unlimited amount of options available that anyone can try throughout the season. Stick to black or gray, as the bright hue will stand out confidently against the dark shades.
