The new movie, The Upside, has critics in awe about the remake of “Intouchables", a true story about a paralyzed man and his assistant. Kevin Hart plays the ex-con who was hired to help the paralyzed man played by Bryan Cranston. This movie shows the emotional hardships of being paralyzed and the bond between two unlikely friends. The producers of this movie consider this premiere one of its successes, reaching twenty million dollars. But that is considered low for Kevin Hart, based off of his career.
Kevin Hart has previously starred in many movies that reached over $100 million in revenue. Many believe that his homophobic comments resulted in this decline. A week before this movie came out, there was also controversy about Kevin Hart hosting the Oscars. He declined the offer, which raised many eyebrows.
