Carly Wieder, Senior
Every student has been in the main office and had the pleasure of being greeted by Mrs. Miller. Maybe you’ve needed guidance and Mrs. Mednis walked you through the college process. Or you’ve been late one too many times and talked to Mrs. Rillera. Perhaps you wanted to talk to Mr. Heffernan and scheduled a meeting with Mrs. Nicholas’ help. No matter what, the office secretaries are there to help students and staff navigate the school. That is why the Pirates’ Pearl wants to recognize them as our March Unsung Heroes. Each of these lovely ladies have dedicated years to Palisades at the elementary schools and the high school.
Mrs. Miller: Started at Springfield Elementary in 2008 as a teacher’s aide then came to the high school in 2010.
Mrs. Nicholas: Started at Springfield Elementary in 2007 as an instructional assistant then, in 2013, moved to the high school as Mr. Heffernan’s secretary.
Mrs. Mednis: Worked at PALMS for 10 years as the computer lab assistant and then moved to the high school 9 years ago.
Mrs. Rillera: Worked in the Palisades School District for 15 years and is currently the Secretary to the Assistant Principal and Attendance Secretary.
Throughout their time in Palisades, they have created a welcoming environment and helped their students through many troubles. Mrs. Miller’s favorite part of working here is being able to “interact with students, parents, and teachers.” This is obvious as she helps every person she can with a bright smile on her face. Both Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Nicholas work together on Senior Awards and they love “seeing all that hard work pay off on Senior Award night.” And, speaking from experience, the seniors love having the secretaries by their side for four years.
These secretaries are the ones behind the scenes making sure it all runs smoothly. Without this wonderful group of women, Palisades would be a completely different place. Thank you for helping us navigate through, well, everything we may need!
