Arab American Heritage Month

Logan Duke, Freshman

This month we are supporting Arab American Heritage Month. This month is overlooked by the federal government. This national month usually begins on April 1st of every year. But the AAHM is celebrated in many schools around the US, plus cities and states. We take this time to learn about the uplifting rich heritage of the Arab Americans out there in the world. The Arab race has 22 central roots in countries that are located in the Middle East and North African regions, such as Algeria, Bahrain, the Comoros Islands, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. What's special about all of these countries is that every single one of them have various languages, religions, and traditions, and with all those different types of languages, religions, and traditions are now a part of the American story. Some of the terminology that is used in the Arab culture is about linguistic and geographical factors, and those factors aren’t fully interchangeable. The Middle East includes non-Arabic nations such as Iran, Israel, and Turkey. The largest Arab population in the United States is in California, with 715,000 people. There are approximately 3.7 million Arabs in the US. The Arabs contribute to the American society in medicine, law, business, education, technology, government, military, and culture, which helped build a better nation. The Arab community is a non-profit educational and cultural organization.
