Cure For Snow Day Blues

Emily Scheffel, Freshman

You might find yourself wondering what to do on a snow day after we have had so many. If so, you have come to the right place. There are many fun things to do on snow days that you may have never thought of.

Many students find themselves skipping breakfast on school days because of their busy schedules or they simply aren’t hungry. On snow days you have more time to work up an appetite and more time to cook. The first thing you can do to have a fun snow day is to make a nice, big breakfast. It will get you ready and energized for whatever you choose to do for the rest of the day!

In this day and age, many people tend to stay inside and watch Netflix or go on their phone and don't appreciate the beautiful world outside. The snow is absolutely beautiful! The next thing you can do on a snow day is to go outside and appreciate the world. Whether that means just sitting on your porch or going for a short walk, make sure you bundle up and stay warm!

If you crave a little adventure, you can go sledding in your backyard or just play outside in the snow. Many people think that playing in the snow is childish but you might rethink that once you have had a snowball fight and scaled a huge jump on your sled. It also is more fun with friends so invite some over!

If sledding and snowball fights aren’t enough for you, you could also go skiing, snowboarding, or tubing. These three activities are extremely fun for anyone. If you are scared to ski or snowboard, many places offer tubing as well. Going out to these places fills up the whole day so you don't have to worry about planning anything else. Most importantly, they are extremely fun!

Another fun, active thing you can do is to go ice skating or rollerblading. Both of these things are very fun and are even more enjoyable with friends. Just be prepared for a bruised butt and sore ankles!

Since Valentine’s day, we have all been eating a lot of candy so another thing you can do on a snow day is workout. For some people working out is fun, but no matter who you are, it is important. Even though, for most people, working out isn’t their idea of fun, you always feel great after… until you wake up sore.

For the less active people out there, there are options for you, too! One of the options for you is to read. Reading is fun and is also a very important skill that everyone can improve. Next snow day everyone should try to cuddle up in some blankets and read, it is truly amazing!

Another option for the less active people out there is to bake! Baking is very fun and you get rewarded by having fun with tasty treats! Baking is fun, both alone or with friends. Another benefit of baking is it makes your whole house warm on a cold day and smells amazing!

The next one is a bit surprising but hear me out. Clean your room! It sounds painfully boring but if you blast your favorite music and have fun with it, the time will go so much faster! When you are finished, you will have a clean room that you can be proud of! It will also make your parents very happy.

The last idea for a snow day is a movie day! Choose a line-up of your favorite TV shows and movies, grab some yummy snacks (maybe the ones you just baked) and hunker down! This is a great way to stay warm and be entertained.

With all of these ideas, your next snow day should be amazing! But let's hope we don’t have too many more because if there is one thing everyone loves more than snow days, it’s summer break!
