Cyber Monday Deals

Updated: Dec 4, 2020

This year, Cyber Monday is November 30. Every year, Cyber Monday is the Monday after Thanksgiving and is a day when retailers have sales for the holidays. It is one of the busiest shopping days of the year, though this year due to Covid-19, Black Friday will primarily be online as well. Though products may have deals starting on Black Friday, on Cyber Monday there are usually special offers.

In previous years, Cyber Monday meant deals on electronics, toys, vacuums, kitchen appliances, and athletic apparel, but it is up to the individual retailer. Though many companies only outline their exact deals on their website, Amazon has announced their sales to the media. As Amazon is all online, their Cyber Monday festivities will last from Saturday, November 28 to Monday, November 30. Most Amazon devices such as the Echo, the Fire TV Stick, the Kindle and other electronics such as TVs, Ring doorbells, etc., are offering price cuts, with up to $75 off its original price. Various clothing brands on the site have deals and are up to 50% off. Large retailers such as Bed Bath and Beyond, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Nordstrom, and Sears have sales from 15-50% off all items. With deals like this, items will go out of stock quickly, so you’ll have to hurry to catch these sales.

If you are planning on shopping on Cyber Monday, be careful of getting your credit card information stolen. In 2019, 2 billion accounts had their information stolen after Cyber Monday. There are a few easy steps you can follow to ensure this doesn’t happen to you. Using payment methods such as Apple Pay or Paypal is generally safe. Large retailers are also usually safe because your information is stored on your account. However, websites where you have to manually write in your credit information every time may have credit card scanners lurking. Be sure to limit the amount of times you manually enter your credit card information this Monday. Watch any suspicious emails that look like they are from major corporations. If there are any spelling mistakes, no contact information, and if the deal looks too good to be true, it probably is. Additionally, be sure to watch your account closely for any suspicious charges.

Cyber Monday is a great day to get your holiday shopping done. There are lots of deals that make shopping worth it. Happy shopping!
