Ford v. Ferrari Review

James Mistch, Freshman

The brand new car racing/drama movie, Ford v. Ferrari, is a phenomenal movie with a plethora of top-tier actors in it. The movie, which is based on a true story, tells the tale of the Ford Motor Company beating a Ferrari car in a race in 1966. Up until 1966, the cars of Enzo Ferrari were the fastest and best racing cars in the world, but with Ford’s company struggling to sell a lot of cars, they had their eyes set on beating Ferrari. The movie tells the story of Carroll Shelby designing a car fast enough to beat Ferrari in a race in France. The film shows everything that went on before the race and shows what happens after.

The plot of the movie starts when the Ford Motor Company decides to compete against Ferrari. The way to prove themselves to the world and make the company better was to beat Ferrari in the 1966 24 hour of Le Mans in France. Throughout the film, we see the preparation and dedication it took for the Ford team to win the race.

The actors in the movie played the characters very well and really showed how they were in real life. Matt Damon plays Carroll Shelby, a former racer turned automotive designer/car salesman who is the main character, and plays the character extremely well. Christian Bale plays Ken Miles, the auto repair man and racer who drives the car in the race to beat Ferrari. These two were the people who represented Ford’s new car that is supposed to beat Ferrari’s unbeatable car. They both play their roles well and really let people know how the real people were.

To me, the movie was great and I would recommend it to anyone who loves cars or just wants to see a great movie. The script, actors, and plot are phenomenal and they put a lot of effort into making this. Overall, this is a great movie and it was well put together with the cast and crew. I recommend this movie to anyone and would definitely watch it again.
