On January 2nd, the Class 3A Coach’s Select All-State Team was released, and congratulations is in order for two Palisades football stars. Over 700 players throughout the state were nominated and nearly 200 coaches voted to compile the All-State team. Thus, having two players from Palisades elected is a great honor for the program. Senior quarterback and three-time captain Ethan Brader was elected to the First Team All-State as the best overall offensive athlete. He holds the record for most passing touchdowns all-time by a quarterback at Palisades, as well as the single-season rushing yards record with 1,729 in 2018. Brader figures to play in college but is currently undecided as to where he will further his athletic and academic career.
Senior offensive tackle Ben Scoggin was also honored by being elected to the Second Team All-State Offense. Scoggin led the Pirates’ offensive line for four years and was a co-captain of the team his senior year. Scoggin recently committed to play Division I football at Harvard University in the fall.
Thus, two of the most notable football players to come out of Palisades in a long time are ending their careers with a very honorable achievement. To be recognized as two of the best athletes in the state of Pennsylvania is an incredible accolade that will not soon be forgotten by the Palisades community.
