Pirates vs Tigers

On January 10th, the Palisades Lady Pirates had a home game against the  Northwestern Lehigh Tigers. The Palisades girls team lost with a score of 44-62. Their record now stands at one win and four losses, but they are hoping to turn it around with an away game at Saucon Valley on Saturday, January 11th.

Palisades starters Trinity Williams (5), Alayna Stiansen (10), Sydney Odle (11), Libby Stiansen (14), and Olivia Martin (24) had a tough start this game. Northwestern started off the game by scoring at 7:30, making the score 0-4. Trinity followed that up by scoring at 7:00, making the score 2-4. Northwestern then scored at 6:34, changing the score to 2-7. The Tigers scored again at 5:17, with a score of 2-9. Palisades Senior Maura Campbell (4) scored at 4:18 to bring the score up to 4-9 and followed that with a free throw to make the score 5-9. Northwestern scored at 3:22 and got a free throw at 2:56, leading to a total score of 5-14. Northwestern scored again at 1:55 to make the score 5-16 and followed that up with a free throw at 1:27. After some struggling over the ball, Libby made a three pointer with 50 seconds left in the first quarter to make the score 8-18. Then, Sydney Odle made two free throws with 9 seconds left in the quarter. Northwestern ended the first quarter with a score of 10-20 by scoring with three seconds left.

After a tough first quarter, the Pirates tried their best to fight back in the second quarter. Northwestern scored at 6:51, starting off the period with a score of 10-22. Trinity got a free throw at 5:57, making both shots for a score of 12-22. Northwestern scored at 5:35 for a score of 12-24 and then scored again at 5:01. Northwestern also got foul shots at 4:43, which raised the score to 12-28. Trinity got another free throw at 4:22 but missed the shot. Olivia then got a free throw with 3:57 left in the period, making the first shot but missing the second for the score 13-28. Northwestern scored at 3:44 to get the score up to 13-30. Olivia scored for the Pirates at 3:30, bringing the score to 15-30. Sydney scored at 2:35 and then again at 1:53 for a score of 20-30. Trinity ended the first half with a free throw with 7 seconds left, where she made both shots for a final score of 22-30.

Coming into the second half, the Pirates were hoping to turn things around. Trinity scored at 6:48, followed by a basket from Northwestern to bring the score to 24-35. Northwestern scored again at 5:37 and 5:00, making the score 24-39. Northwestern made another two baskets for the score to be 24-43. Alayna made a basket at 3:22 for the score 26-43. Sydney got a free throw at 2:35, making both shots. Olivia scored at 2:16 before Northwestern scored at 2:04, making the score 30-45. Northwestern scored again with 54 seconds left in the period and made both shots in a free throw with 14 seconds left. Olivia finished up the third period by scoring with 2 seconds left, making the score 32-49.

To start of the fourth quarter, Northwestern received free throws at 7:41 and made one of the two shots. Northwestern scored again at 6:41 and got a free throw at 6:39 to make the score 32-53. Northwestern was awarded a free throw after a foul at 6:02 but missed both shots. Northwestern got another free throw at 5:30, making the shot for a score of 32-55. Northwestern got two more free throws, getting two points overall. Alayna scored a three pointer at 4:06 and then scored again at 3:33 to get the score to 37-57. Trinity got a free throw at 2:44, making one of the shots for a score of 38-59. Sydney scored at 2:28 and then scored again at 2:15. Trinity got a free throw at 1:40, making one basket. Northwestern got a free throw at 1:38 but missed and then scored with 36 seconds left. Northwestern got a free throw with 10.3 seconds left, making only one basket. Libby got a free throw with 4 seconds left in the game, making the first and missing the second for a final score of 44-62. 

This was a tough game for the Pirates, but they worked hard to fight the Tigers. They’re only five games into the season, so make sure to come out and support your Lady Pirates at their next game!
