Bedbug Release at PA Walmart

Natalie Owens, Freshman

A Pennsylvania Walmart is now opening an investigation after finding two pill bottles filled with live bedbugs. An employee at a Washington Township Walmart found the bottle of bedbugs inside a boy's jacket for sale in the men's fitting room last Thursday. The following Saturday another pill bottle was found near the belts in the men's department. Ecolab Inc. investigated in the Walmart and reported finding bedbugs crawling in and around the men's fitting rooms. Currently, an investigation is being made to find fingerprints on the pill bottles, and Walmart is reviewing their surveillance footage. No arrests have been made, but the crime would be considered an act of disorderly conduct. Bedbugs are small parasites that feed off of the blood of animals and people while they sleep. They measure from 1 millimeter to 7 millimeters, are usually reddish-brown in color, and can cause small, itchy bumps and loss of sleep. The Washington Township Walmart confirms that there has not been an infestation of the store, and further investigation will be conducted to ensure the safety of its customers.
