Free Fall: Action Sports Event

By: Callisa Weaver

Free Fall is a bmx biking, scootering, skateboarding, and basketball event that takes place in different local areas. Competition accommodates different age groups and levels from beginners and intermediate to advanced (19+). To complete, you register in person or online in advance, and during competition, you get called by your group. Everyone lines up along a fence, and they compete one at a time. Based on the tricks performed, the judges look at the skill and the landing.

Free Fall took place on September 22, 2018 from 12:00 to 5:00, located in Quakertown in Main Street Skate Park . The event is free to get in with a variety of food and drinks for purchase. Items that are available are: hot dogs, chips, ice cream, soda, Powerade, and water. Raffles are also sold to win prizes, and with each raffle bought, a book with inspirational quotes from past Free Fall events is given. Prizes include a gift card to Chick-fil-a or YogurtTree.

Free Fall is a family-friendly event, complete with different games and a bounce house. The organization’s goal is to raise money for to build a new skate park. This year, they finally reached enough to do it, raising 1 million dollars!

It was a fun event to attend, especially watching the competitors. One of the best things to watch was watching people picking up air, doing 180’s and tailwhips on the scooter, and seeing how high people could go. Check out their Instagram for more pictures!

Their Groundbreaking Ceremony is this Saturday, October 6!
