According to NPR, Eric Black Jr. has been charged with capital murder. In the police statement, Black “admitted to taking part in the shooting.” On December 30th, seven year old Jazmine Barnes was shot and killed. Her mother and six year old sister were both injured.
The police believe that the Barnes’ family was not the intended target. They said in a press conference that the guy in the red truck was just a witness, before they said the guy in the red truck pulled up beside the car and fired. DeAndre Hopkins, a wide receiver for the Houston Texans, and Shaquille O’Neal, a ex NBA player, both offered to help with funeral funds.
