How to Celebrate Your Mom This Mother's Day

Emily Scheffel, Freshman

As you may know, Mother’s Day is this Sunday (5/12/19). Mother’s Day is a very important holiday because it is a day for showing your thanks to your mother, or any strong female figure in your life. So this year, instead of just buying your mother a necklace and saying thank you, here are some ways to really show your mother how grateful you are for her.

Your mother probably cooks for you a lot. This can be very tiring for her, but it is one of the many ways that mothers show their love on a daily basis. If mothers cook to show love to their kids, we should return the favor! So, maybe this Mother’s Day, you can wake your mother up with breakfast in bed! She will enjoy the delicious food and relaxation while cooking the meal for her can be a fun activity for the rest of the family.

On Mother’s Day, it is important to spend some quality time with your mother. There are so many things to do with her depending on what interests you. If you both enjoy hiking, go on a nice hike with your mom and maybe have a picnic. If you both enjoy going to the spa, go

get a spa treatment together. There are many things that you can do with your mother that will be entertaining and fun on Mother’s Day.

Although pretty necklaces and fun cards are great, mothers appreciate meaningful gifts as well like handmade cards. Instead of buying your mother a generic Mother’s Day gift, spend a little more time on finding her something that will mean a lot to her, something that interests her. And instead of buying a card from the store, take some time to make a handmade card. Your mother will appreciate these gifts so much more and will show her how much you love her.

With all of these ideas, it will be easy to show your love to your mom this Mother’s Day. You can do all of these tips or none, but the most important thing to do this Mother’s Day is to tell her how much she means to you and how grateful you are for everything she does. Happy Mother’s Day!
