Iranian Missile Strike on a US Military Base in Iraq Causes Panic

Sarah Goggin, Sophomore

Late on Tuesday night, the Iranian government launched a missile strike on two United States Military Bases in Iraq. There have been rising tensions between the United States and Iran in the past two weeks after the President’s air strike on the Baghdad Airport, killing their highest military leader. Protests from Iranian citizens on the United States Embassy ensued, with angry Iranians crowding the streets. 📷

Iran launched almost a dozen missiles against the two military bases in Iraq, the most significant attack yet in this growing issue with Iran. One base, the al-Asad air base located in western Iraq, was allegedly hit by at least six missiles. The al-Asad air base houses some US troops, but no casualties were reported by US officials. Iran, on the other hand, claims to have killed at least 80 US troops.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Iranian supreme leader, used this missile attack as a way to attempt to end US presence in Iran. President spoke on the matter at 11 AM today, so look out for an article on that!
