National Park Shutdown

Nick Caldwell, Junior

After 12 days of the government shut down, National Parks in the United States have turned into a so called “Wild West.” The government shutdown occurred because of Donald Trump and his want... or need for his United States and Mexico border wall. The negative impact of Donald Trump's tantrums have allowed the parks to be vandalized with trash, graffiti, human feces, and more as the parks remain open. On a positive note, these parks are no longer charging a fee for entrance or any other fee entailed while visiting the national parks.

Focusing in on one particular national park located in California, by the name of Joshua Tree. The conditions in the Southern California regions have been deteriorating since the wildfires that engulfed the state during the end of 2018. The porta potties have been filled, and trash has been littered. Volunteers have utilized their time and resources to help clean the park, but many are worried the park is going to be beyond repair after the government can clean itself up, pun intended.
