A 22-year-old recent graduate who studied English at the University of Mississippi, Caroline Bradner, was burdened with a sudden illness. According to Fox News, she had moved to Thailand in October to begin her teaching career and slowly started to notice signs of weakness. Bradner was under the impression that she was experiencing a normal sickness until she woke up unable to move from her neck down.
Caroline has been officially diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. This causes her immune system to attack her nerves, and then cause paralysis. Her family’s insurance company will not accept the request to cover her transfer back home. Therefore, Bradner and her family have started a GoFundMe to help raise money to send her back to Virginia for further treatment.
