A eulogist speaking at Qassem Soleimani’s funeral has called for an $80 million dollar bounty on President Donald Trump, as many in Iran continue to mourn Soleimani’s death. The eulogist called for the 80 million Iranians to each set aside “one American dollar, and we will reward whoever brings us Trump’s head.”
Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the reasoning for taking down Soleimani was because he was planning “imminent and sinister attacks.” There had been a rocket attack that killed an American civilian and the “storming of an American embassy in Baghdad.” Trump and Pompeo believed these to be a serious and dire threat to Americans’ lives. It is said they have yet to provide evidence to support their decision.
There is no solid proof that the idea for the bounty was endorsed by the regime, but a few sources do initially reported that had been the case. No official of the Iranian regime has directly threatened the president, but many in Iran are in support of the idea as Soleimani was the mastermind of their military, of which he directed militias that supported regime interest. He was a very influential man to the Iranian people, explaining the country’s fiery responses.
