Olivia Knecht, Sophomore
The third marking period has ended and the school year is more than halfway over! A small interview was conducted to see how students and some staff were feeling about this year’s progress. Throughout the interview, many students voiced that they were pleased with how they wrapped up their third-quarter work. Some seniors had mentioned trying some things before graduation, as well as feeling excited about graduation and starting their new life at college in the fall of 2022.
Some wished they tried harder, while others didn’t care as much. Evan B., a sophomore, said he “is waiting for the year to end and enjoy the summer.” He also said that he is “a semi-good student and doesn’t overly bother with his work,” while a freshman said she was “stressed about getting her grades up and staying a straight-A student for the rest of the semester.”
The staff were generally pleased with the ending and being able to continue into the last few months of the school year. For example, Mr. Maldonado had stated that he is excited for the year to end, as well as ready for the music trip to Hershey in a month.
The school year ending brings many different emotions to our students at Palisades. Our seniors are sad about leaving, but happy to start their new life after graduation; our seniors are looking forward to having their prom and their graduation this year and are excited to start the next chapter of their lives—whether that be college or otherwise. Other students are happy with just having the school year ending in two months. Something that staff and students are looking forward to is the Hershey music trip in May. Unfortunately, our language trip will not be going this year, which will be sad for any seniors that were looking forward to the trip. However, students are still excited about opportunities to try out for clubs or sports for the next year.
This year we have our junior-senior prom which did not happen to the same extent last year, along with a normal graduation ceremony.
So to wrap up—at this point in the school year, many students and staff are looking forward to getting everything done and enjoying the remaining days left in school.
