Sun dogs, also known as parhelia, thrive in chilling temperatures. Over the weekend, many people all around the frozen Eastern hemisphere had the rare chance to photograph these wonders of nature. Sun dogs are reflections of the sun or moon (moon dogs) which shine their light in ice crystals of the atmosphere. They consist of one, two, or, even in this case, three spots of light or rainbows circulating the sun/moon.
