NBC News reports that Trina Abrams is pleading not guilty to a misdemeanor assault. The teacher was seen on camera dragging a 9-year-old boy with autism down the hallway of Wurtland Elementary School. Angel Nelson, the mother of the child, said her son’s third-grade teacher "wanted him to do more." When the student started to have an “outburst”, Abrams grabbed the child by the wrists and drug him out of the room.

“When you send your child to school you want them to be safe," Nelson said. "The teacher is the farthest thing you should worry about.” The mother worries for her son due to the child being diagnosed with autism, ADHD, PTSD, limited speech issues, anxiety, and depression. She eventually pulled her son from Wurtland Elementary School and enrolled him elsewhere. Abrams has been removed from the school and is due back in court on February 20th for a pretrial hearing.
