Televised Tuesday night Trump makes a statement about the long-promised Mexican border. According to The Washington Post, he believes there is, “a growing humanitarian and security crisis” at the southern border. During Trump's speech he repeatedly calls undocumented immigrants drug smugglers, rapist, and murdered. According to him, the $5.7 million steel wall is the only solution.“This is a humanitarian crisis — a crisis of the heart and a crisis of the soul,” says Trump. He states that the democrats in office have ignored the problem and have not correctly aquiped border patrol with “the tools they desperately need to protect our families and our nation.” Some of these responses from the democratic party accused Trump of fear mongering, and playing up the situation throughout his speech. They also stated that he wall he plans to build is unnecessary and immoral.
Little new information was released during Trump's nine minute speech. He does suggest that the wall should be built out of concrete instead of steel. The President's credibility is quickly being lost because of his past over exaggerations and false claims.
