Two sisters, (fourteen and twelve years old) have been recently charged with murdering their own mother. Amariyona Hall, fourteen, is being charged as an adult. The other sister, 12, has not been identified because she is being charged as a minor. According to Buzzfeed News, Amariyona and her sister stabbed their 32 year old mother, Erika Hall, many times and shot her in the chest with a handgun inside their home. They allegedly tried to run her over with a car the week previous. It is not clear what caused the attack, but the murder took place only a few days after Ms. Hall took away her daughters’ cell phones. The sisters tried to escape by asking a neighbor for a ride because their grandmother had just died. The neighbor called the mother to make sure this was okay, but the mother was soon found dead by other children, sixteen and one year old daughters.
Ms. Hall was found on the ground outside of her home. She was pronounced dead at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. Amariyona and her twelve year old sister were charged with murder on Friday. Amariyona is being held at Pike County Jail with a $150,000 bond. She will have her preliminary hearing on January 22, 2019. Her twelve year old sister, being charged as a minor, is being held at Adams County Detention Center.
