No Place for Hate at Palisades

By: Ally Kaiser, Senior

Palisades High School and Middle School both fit the criteria for a No Place for Hate designation, an Anti-Defamation League (ADL) program in schools that seeks to create safe spaces in schools so that all students are able to thrive. The program specifically targets bullying and bias present in the school setting. Bias and bullying such as anti-semitism, racism, and bigotry can be extremely detrimental to a student and their learning, and no student should have to face it.

Each school is able to tailor the program to fit its own needs through its No Place for Hate Committee. This committee is one of the steps schools need to take in order to be part of the program, along with implementing activities and assessing progress. However, teachers are not the only participants in the program. Parents and students as well as educators must be involved for the program in order for it to truly work.
