Palisades Baseball Update

Updated: May 3, 2021

Marco Campos, Freshman

The Palisades baseball update for the 2020-2021 season is now here! Baseball season’s back, with some restrictions, for example, the use of masks on the bench. This helps along with the addition of six-feet social distancing. Players can’t shake hands after their games, and instead they lift their caps in the air to say good game.

JV has had a comeback season due to them having a couple of losses in the beginning and wins from the middle of the season. For Varsity, they have been doing well overall. The Star players for the JV team are Tyler Bonelli, Jaden Kerr, and Nathan Appiotti. They know their positions really well. Tyler plays shortstop and pitches, Jaden pitches and is a center fielder, and Nathan pitches and is a third-baseman. Some of the star players for Varsity are Bela Palvinski, Jaden Newton, Jon DeNato, Nick Petrillo, and Michael Wallbillich. Bela is a center fielder, Jaden and Nick are third-basemen, Jon is a catcher, and Michael is the first-baseman.

The JV team has 4 wins, 5 losses, and Varsity has 6 wins, as well as 3 losses this season. JV had more away games than Varsity so far. For JV, the team knows each other pretty well. JV has to keep working on mental errors, like getting picked out, hustling for the ball and calling out.

For JV, Notre Dame was a challenging team to face because they draw from a larger geographical area. The game against Salisbury was memorable because it was the JV team’s first win.
