Palisades French Week

Cassie Foresman and Lauren Nolen, Senior

To bring life to Palisades High School, The French Club organizes a yearly French Week. This is a Nationwide event where schools and families all over the world celebrate the French language and culture. This year at Palisades, students arranged an array of fun and exciting events that encompassed French traditions, some being croissant sales, crepe “fetes” (parties), music, and buche de noels. In order to spread the French language throughout the school, there was a daily French phrase that every student would say to one another. Not only did the french club achieve their goal in spreading this amazing culture, but students and faculty had a fun time while doing so!

4 year member and president of The French Club, Pippa Russel, says that planning this event was easy, stress free, and fun, as she had the help of her Palisades French teacher, Madame Neiman, and other French Club members. Pippa says that her most anticipated moment of the week is Madame Neimans crepe fete! French club member, Sydney Cohen, says that her favorite part of this week is the crepes as well. However, she was really looking forward to buying a croissant the next morning. On Tuesday last week, Madame Neiman held a crepe party for all members of the French Club. There was a photo booth (pictured), music, dancing, chatting, and most importantly; eating! There was an array of delicious toppings, such as nutella, strawberries, bananas, raspberries, and whipped cream!📷

This week consisted of many other fun activities. In the morning, a student was selling croissants (with nutella if you please) in front of the French room. This was a great way to start your morning with some French culture! Additionally, on the morning announcements, there would be a daily french phrase. These phrases were said all around the school, celebrating the amazing language. Thursday was the holiday language party, and here the culture was alive. French foods (mainly desserts, such as buche de noels), music, and traditions were shared with The Spanish and German language clubs. Palisades had a very successful, fun, and educational French Week this year, and every student is looking forward to next year's festivities.
